Legal Assistant Paralegal
US Federal Government is seeking an experienced Legal Assistant or Law Clerk for a 9-month contract position in their General Counsel's office. The role involves drafting legal documents, conducting research on legislation and regulations, and providing general litigation support.
Government Administration
Responsibilities
Drafts summaries of facts and assists with the drafting of other investigative work products as assigned
Research relevant legislation, regulations and cases often involving contract, procurement, or disability issues
Edits, proofreads, and reviews a wide variety of legal, audit, and investigative documents
Enters data into excel spreadsheets of moderate complexity; some administrative duties as needed
Assist with managing meetings and events for the Office of General Counsel
Legal review, drafting memoranda and correspondence for the GC on issues related to legal taskings, litigation, and general correspondence to the public
General litigation support including Preparation of files for opposing counsel; summarizing depositions and witness statements; witness preparation and deposition coordination; preparing discovery requests; prepare exhibit binders and trial exhibits
Other administrative duties as necessary
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree minimum
At least 1 year of prior legal and/or legislative research experience
Must be able to pass a background check
Preferred
JD is preferred
Evening Law Students will be strongly considered
