Bankruptcy Paralegal
ActOne Group is seeking a Bankruptcy Paralegal to support attorneys and clients in the bankruptcy process. The role involves managing bankruptcy cases, conducting legal research, and providing administrative support to ensure the efficient functioning of the bankruptcy department.
Responsibilities
Case Management: Assist in the management of bankruptcy cases from inception to resolution, including gathering and organizing client information, drafting bankruptcy petitions, schedules, and other necessary documents
Client Communication: Act as a liaison between clients and attorneys, providing updates on case status, gathering necessary documentation, and addressing client inquiries and concerns with professionalism and empathy
Legal Research: Conduct legal research on bankruptcy laws, regulations, and procedures to support attorneys in case preparation, strategy development, and compliance
Document Preparation and Filing: Draft and prepare legal documents, motions, pleadings, and correspondence related to bankruptcy proceedings. File documents with bankruptcy courts and ensure compliance with procedural requirements and deadlines
Financial Analysis: Review and analyze financial documents, including income statements, tax returns, and asset inventories, to assess clients' financial situations and assist in developing bankruptcy strategies
Court Proceedings Support: Assist attorneys in preparing for hearings, trials, and other court proceedings by organizing case materials, preparing exhibits, and coordinating with court personnel
Administrative Support: Provide general administrative support to attorneys and other team members, including managing calendars, scheduling appointments, and maintaining electronic and physical filing systems
Continuing Education: Stay abreast of developments in bankruptcy law and procedures through participation in professional development activities, seminars, and training programs
Team Collaboration: Collaborate effectively with attorneys, paralegals, and other legal professionals within the firm or legal department to ensure seamless workflow and client service delivery
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree and/or paralegal certificate from an accredited institution
Prior experience (3-4 years) working as a paralegal in bankruptcy law or a related field preferred
Ability to work effectively in a team environment, maintain professionalism, and interact with clients and colleagues courteously and respectfully
Strong knowledge of bankruptcy laws, procedures, and court rules
Proficiency in legal research, document drafting, and case management software
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to interact professionally with clients, attorneys, and court personnel
Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
Ethical conduct and adherence to confidentiality requirements
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and legal software applications
