The Accountant 2 will be responsible for various accounting functions, ensuring the accuracy of financial records and supporting the organization's mission by managing financial resources effectively.

Responsibilities

Processing accounts payable and receivable

Creating and maintaining customer and vendor profiles

Ensuring timely and accurate entry and preparation of all transactions

Reviewing and following up on monthly open transactions

Performing general accounting functions

Preparing, posting and reconciling complex accounting records including payroll with adherence to timely month-end and year-end close processes

Reconciling bank statements and general ledger accounts

Identifying, maintaining and reconciling deferred and fixed asset records

Supporting project, grant and fund accounting

Assisting in managing restricted and unrestricted funds

Documenting processes, policies and conducting internal audits

Documenting, maintaining and improving departmental procedures, policies and systems

Performing internal audits of procedures, policies and systems as they relate to financial records

Assisting with financial reporting

Assisting with preparing and maintaining documentation for audit, tax and other regulatory compliance

Providing accounting support

Collaborating, training and communicating with organization staff on accounting-related guidance

Providing backup to other accounting functions as needed
