Computer Programmer Analyst

The Tennessee Board of Regents (TBR) is seeking a Computer Programmer Analyst to provide technical support for the student module of Banner and Student Services. The role involves generating data reports, troubleshooting issues, and supporting various software applications used by faculty and staff.

Higher Education

Responsibilities

Provide Banner technical and consulting support for the various departments under Student Services and other departments as needed
Use SQL, Argos report writer, and other software to generate student data reports from Banner as requested by users based on the priorities of the institution
Schedule Banner processes using UC4/Automic/Appworx and schedule reports using Argos
Use SQL, Argos and other software to analyze Banner data for the purpose of troubleshooting problems and recommending solutions
Provide technical support for Remark scanning software used by various departments to perform functions such as faculty evaluations
Provide Slate and Axiom technical support for various parts of Slate including but not limited to the Admissions Applications, Advising Portal, and Tutoring Center Kiosk
Support faculty and staff in the use of other software, such as Microsoft applications, e-mail, etc
Utilize customer service skills to respond to inquiries and comments in a courteous and professional manner, while maintaining a serious attitude toward every aspect of this job
Provide secondary technical and consulting support for Financial Aid module of Banner
Provide backup for some of the duties of other members of the Administrative Systems staff as needed
Performs other duties as assigned

Required

Requires a Bachelor's degree in a computer related field from a regionally accredited institution
Experience using programming logic and problem-solving skills
Knowledge of Microsoft Office software
Required skills/abilities include writing, communications, and critical analysis. This job requires the ability to collaborate effectively on a professional level with peers at the college, SMO, TBR and sister institutions
Knowledge of SQL and/or a 4th generation language, such as Java
Ability to display patience and listening skills when working with peers and users
Demonstrate the capacity and willingness to expand one's knowledge base and adapt to new technology
Be able to communicate effectively and work with a variety of computer users at different levels of expertise

Preferred

Experience with Ellucian Banner Student
At least five (5) years of experience as a programmer/analyst or Business Analyst
Experience with Argos, PL/SQL, ProC, and Java
