ASL (American Sign Language) Adjunct

Olympic College is a comprehensive community college seeking an adjunct faculty member to join their Social Sciences & Humanities Division. The role involves teaching American Sign Language courses, primarily ASL 121, 122, and 123, while providing quality teaching and support to students with varying backgrounds in ASL.

Responsibilities

Teach daytime and evening in-person classes on the Bremerton and Satellite campuses when required
Provide quality teaching, including related preparation, grading, and record keeping
Provide class syllabi to students enrolled in classes by the first day of classes and to the division office as requested
Identify individual learning needs of students and make appropriate adjustments in learning environments and activities to meet those needs
Punctually communicate with students, faculty, staff, and administrators
Perform other related duties as assigned and/or required

Qualification

American Sign LanguageDeaf StudiesTeaching experienceCulturally responsive teachingTechnology integrationAssessment activitiesCommunication skillsCollaboration

Required

Bachelor's degree in Deaf Studies or related field; OR
CTE Certification AND minimum of two years' teaching experience
Extensive coursework or experience in American Sign Language
Education or experience with Deaf culture and deafness
Relevant teaching experience

Preferred

Master's degree in ASL and/or Deaf Studies
College teaching experience
