Sr IT Systems Administrator
Oculus Group is seeking a Senior IT Systems Administrator to mentor and collaborate with a team of IT professionals. This role is responsible for ensuring system reliability, security, and performance across various IT infrastructures while aligning IT operations with business priorities.
Responsibilities
Mentor and support a team of two IT technicians/administrators
Establish and maintain IT operational standards, documentation practices, and change-control processes
Partner closely with the Finance department (direct reporting line) to support strategic planning, budgeting, and IT governance
Collaborate with cross-functional teams and external vendors to deliver reliable IT services
Architect, maintain, and optimize server, network, and storage infrastructure to ensure high availability and performance
Provide infrastructure-level support for Sage X3 & Maximizer CRM, including system access, server resource monitoring, and coordination with the external ERP/CRM consultant for application-level tasks
Administer and maintain enterprise systems including Active Directory, M365/Azure AD, virtualization platforms (VMware/Hyper-V), backup systems, and security tools
Serve as the highest-level escalation point for complex incidents, outages, or infrastructure failures
Lead IT infrastructure upgrades, cloud migrations, deployments, and capacity planning initiatives
Implement and enforce security best practices, including monitoring, vulnerability remediation, and policy adherence
Identify opportunities for automation and process improvements to increase efficiency and reduce downtime
Manage vendor relationships, procurement, licensing, and technology renewals
Qualification
Required
6–10+ years of progressive systems administration or infrastructure experience
Proven experience collaborating in small IT teams or acting as a senior escalation point
Advanced knowledge of Windows Server, VMware/Hyper-V, networking, storage systems, and security practices
Experience with hybrid and cloud environments including security (Azure, M365)
Strong communication, project management, and documentation skills
Preferred
Professional certifications (CCNA/CCNP, MCSE, VMware VCP, Azure Administrator)
