Clinical Internship

Casa de la Familia is dedicated to providing mental health services through its Clinical Internship Program, which offers training and supervision to graduate students pursuing a master's level degree in social work or marriage family therapy. Interns will gain hands-on experience in individual, family, and group therapy while working collaboratively with an interdisciplinary clinical team.

Required

Graduate students enrolled in an accredited professional graduate school to obtain a master's level degree in social work or marriage family therapy as MFT trainees or MSW student interns
Commitment to providing training in evidence-based practices
Ability to work competently within the mental health system
Minimum of 20 hours per week availability
Direct Patient Care: 10 hours, with a caseload of 12 clients
Non-Patient Care: 5 hours
Individual supervision – 1 hour
Group supervision – 2 hours a week
Meetings/Training – 1+ hours a month

Preferred

Experience with Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT)
Knowledge of legal aspects of domestic violence and human trafficking
Understanding of immigration law applied to victims
Experience in engagement with children and families
Knowledge of child sexual abuse treatment
Experience with sand play therapy
Understanding of psychopharmacology
Knowledge of LGBTQ+ clinical issues
Understanding of human trafficking
Knowledge of the intersection between domestic violence and human trafficking
Experience with domestic violence
Experience in family therapy
Understanding of therapeutic frame
Experience with art interventions
Knowledge of cognitive behavioral therapy
Understanding of elimination disorders
Knowledge of dual diagnosis
Experience with eating disorders
