Chesterfield County Government is seeking a Principal Engineer to manage Capital Improvement Program projects from design through construction. The role involves reviewing plans and specifications for utilities projects, providing technical assistance, and managing special projects for Utilities Operations and Maintenance divisions.

Responsibilities

Manage Capital Improvement Program projects from design through construction

Review plans and specifications for utilities projects

Monitor the project's construction

Provide technical assistance to the Water Distribution, Wastewater Collections, Water Treatment and Wastewater Treatment Sections

Plan, design and manage special projects for Utilities Operations and Maintenance divisions

Work closely with the SCADA and instrumentation team to coordinate design efforts on capital projects

Assist engineering supervisor with project planning and development of annual budgets

Draft permit applications and other regulatory submittals for water, and wastewater projects

May be assigned supervision of future staff as department grows

Perform other work as required

Qualification

Civil EngineeringWater/Wastewater Systems DesignProject ManagementProfessional Engineer's LicenseSupervisory ExperienceTechnical AssistanceRegulatory SubmittalsSCADA Coordination

Required

Bachelor's degree in civil engineering, environmental engineering, mechanical engineering or related engineering field

Five years' engineering experience or an equivalent combination of training and experience

Current valid driver's license and good driving record

Pre-employment drug testing

FBI criminal background check

Education/degree verification

Must maintain personal mobile technology as a condition of employment

Preferred

Professional Engineer's License

Five years' experience with water and wastewater systems design and/or construction

One year of supervisory experience

Experience and understanding with water and/or wastewater utility (treatment plants, tanks, pump stations, pipelines) design and construction project management
