The role involves programming and running CNC Mills and Lathes, operating machine shop equipment, and participating in continuous improvement projects.

Responsibilities
Program and run 3-axis CNC Mills and CNC Lathes in a low volume/high mix workflow
Operate other machine shop equipment such as a manual mill, bandsaw, shear, cold saw, drill press, etc
Machine complex components to tight tolerances in various materials with tight deadlines
Use various inspection and measurement tools to validate your work as well as tracking and documentation of machining processes and results when necessary
Provide feedback to engineers, other machinists and programmers on design and process improvement as well as root cause analysis and problem solving
Maintain shop equipment as required as well as maintain a clean and organized workspace
Participate in continuous improvement projects for the shop and Tesla as well as perform all assignments in accordance with EH&S and security policies
Qualification
Required
At least 5 years of CNC Mill programming experience
Haas CNC experience required
Demonstrated experience with CAM software – MasterCAM, Solidworks
Thorough knowledge and understanding of engineering drawings, documents, and GD&T
Thorough knowledge in the use of measurement and inspection tools such as calipers, micrometers, gauge pins, bore gauges, optical comparator, etc
Proficient with basic shop tools and machines (manual mill, engine lathe, drill press, bandsaw, belt sanders, hand tools etc.)
Excellent verbal and written communication skills with ability to develop and present technical information
Preferred
DMG experience highly desired
Sheet metal fabrication – laser table or waterjet, brake press, sheet metal hand tools are desired but not required
