Responsibilities
Responsible for carrying out specific project responsibilities as part of larger program objectives involved in the design and development of products, equipment, or processes. May design, layout complex items
Develop specifications, schematics, assembly drawings, bill of materials, against which designs can be produced. Prepares sub-system performance specifications
Evaluate and selects optimum design alternatives
Determine design feasibility and assure that product designs are competitive
Provide direction to others who determine appropriate materials and processes for specific component applications
Lead or conduct experiments to evaluate operating characteristics of products or processes. execute test and troubleshooting activity
Evaluate engineering prototypes and translate experimental results into design criteria
Develop task inputs to engineering project plans and maintains liaison with other departments of the organization
Respond to customer engineering queries and advises others on engineering information relevant to the organization's product capabilities
Provide technical presentation support and consultation to marketing
Represent engineering unit in customer or field force contacts, troubleshoots customer application problems
Utilize project planning and monitoring methods to ensure timely completion. Assume responsibility for successful completion (Schedule, Performance, Cost) of systems and sub-systems
Perform preliminary engineering necessary to confirm plans and programs
Assist in assuring the technical soundness of engineering programs
Support the manufacturing process in resolving design problems
Collaborate with purchasing in obtaining quotations or bids and recommends selection of vendors
Prepare engineering specifications for major purchases
Prepare reports of field tests, start ups or installations as required and writes technical instructions. On a project or on-going basis, supervise the work of other engineering personnel
Contribute to process improvements
Recommend to Management to selection of appropriate and cost efficient vendors
During all phases of the design development, manufacturing and sustainment process, provide technical input and support to the teams at Talladega in the areas of analogue and digital design and sustainment
Competent in schematic capture, PCB layout, working with external PCB layout service providers
Able to self direct and analyze priorities to drive to improved profits
Capable of tracking, managing and reporting to leadership status of projects
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in engineering or equivalent scientific discipline with 4 -7 or more years of experience to be proficient in the above areas or an equivalent combination of education and experience
Electrical or Electronic Engineering degree preferred
Incumbents must possess intensive and diversified knowledge of engineering principles and practices in broad areas of assignments and related fields
Prior experience with two or more of the following: CRTs & optics, HUDs, RF, Radar, Power supply design, firmware, test software, JTAG, ICT, ESS
Have a strong preference to accomplish goals in innovative and cost-effective ways
The successful candidate will have the ability to function and effectively communicate in a dynamic integrated product team environment, supporting a variety of different programs, and often multiple programs every day
The candidate should be experienced in current electronic manufacturing processes and methods, and compact/high density electronic and component packaging techniques and methods
