Responsibilities

Retrieves records for continuing care purposes, committee meetings, research purposes, and audits as requested. Deliver records to requested areas within the hospital

Assembles and analyzes medical records for initial completion of deficiencies and updates computerized chart deficiency/location system to denote current physician responsibility and record location

Retrieves and places transcription on incomplete records to expedite the coding and completion of the medical chart process. Re-files incomplete medical records and updated computerized chart tracking system to denote location of record

Prepares completed records for filing in permanent file

Performs computerized count of incomplete and deficient medical records. Performs audits and shifts files to maintain integrity of computerized chart tracking system and incomplete medical record files

Assists physicians and other hospital personnel with understanding the dictation system, record completion requirements, and Health Information department system

All other duties as assigned, within the scope and range of job responsibilities

Required

Education: High School Diploma or GED

Experience: Required: Six months office experience

Preferred

Experience in an office environment working with medical records/confidential information
