T. Baker Smith is searching for a highly capable Offshore Surveyor to join their marine solutions team. The role involves installing, calibrating, and operating positioning and attitude sensors for real-time positioning of vessels and survey platforms, along with ensuring quality control of geospatial data.

Responsibilities

Positioning will range from a final position report on a rig move to complex construction projects integrating data and information from several project vessels and construction phases

Install and operate the survey positioning and navigation equipment, ancillary equipment, and software

Responsible for obtaining and checking the required geodetic parameters in which the survey is to be performed

Quality control of positioning and logging of geospatial data for subsequent processing and reporting

Calibrate the survey positioning equipment, gyro compass and tracking equipment prior to the commencement of a survey

Document such calibrations according to the quality procedures

Maintain a detailed survey log of events, including line logs, and other logs as directed

Compile navigation records for the survey report and its appendices

Gather the survey line database and ensure the survey vessel is navigated along the predetermined survey lines within the required tolerance and accuracy

Required

Minimum of 2 proven years of experience working with Bottom Scanning Sonar, GPS, and Positioning software

This position requires individuals who are prepared and able to spend long periods of time offshore and away from home (ability to travel and work shifts aboard a vessel, 24-hour call): Offshore trips can vary from a few days in the case of a rig move or inshore survey to four to six weeks for long term geophysical or construction activities

Capable of working unsupervised and on their own initiative on occasions, making good judgment decisions, reliable with a positive attitude

Strong commitment to personal safety and the safety of others. Regular completion of safety training courses and medical assessments is a mandatory requirement
