Auditor 1/Auditor Trainee 1/Auditor Trainee 2 (NY HELPS)
The NYS Department of Transportation is seeking an Auditor Trainee/Auditor 1 to perform audits and evaluations for NYSDOT. The role involves conducting audits of engineering firms and contracts, preparing reports, and ensuring compliance with federal and state audit requirements.
Civil Engineering
Responsibilities
Perform pre-award evaluations of engineering firms’ indirect cost (overhead) rates in compliance with FAR Cost Principles
Conduct close-out audits of contracts with engineering consultant firms, railroads, utility companies, and others, to determine if billed costs and fees are allowable
Prepare narrative reports of audit findings and recommendations
Ensure that sub-recipients of Federal funds have filed Federal and New York State Single Audits as required and have taken appropriate corrective actions on any reported audit findings
Assist in the review of Personal Net Worth of business owners who have applied to NYSDOT for certification as a Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (DBE)
Occasional travel will be required
Responsibilities may include serving a role within the Incident Command System to support the department’s response to regional and statewide emergency situations
Qualification
Required
A bachelor's degree in accounting, auditing, or taxation OR a bachelor's degree with 24 semester credit hours in accounting, auditing, or taxation courses for Auditor Trainee 1
A bachelor's degree in accounting, auditing, or taxation or a bachelor's degree with 24 semester credit hours in accounting, auditing, or taxation courses and one year of professional experience in accounting/auditing or financial internal or field auditing for Auditor Trainee 2
A master's or higher degree in accounting, auditing, or taxation for Auditor Trainee 2
A bachelor's degree in accounting, auditing, or taxation; or a bachelor's degree with 24 semester credit hours in accounting, auditing, or taxation courses and two years of professional experience in accounting/auditing or financial internal or field auditing for Auditor 1
A master's or higher degree in accounting, auditing, or taxation and one year of professional experience in accounting/auditing or financial internal or field auditing for Auditor 1
A currently valid Certified Public Accountant license and registration issued by New York State for Auditor 1
Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis
Your required educational credentials must have been awarded by an educational institution accredited by a regional, national, or specialized agency recognized as an accrediting agency by the United States (U.S.) Department of Education/Secretary of Education
Candidates selected for appointment must provide an original document to prove their citizenship and/or legal right to work in the United States
