Responsibilities
Actively monitor and oversee the safety practices of contractors performing construction work on-site
Perform regular safety inspections and audits to ensure compliance with OSHA and company safety standards. Recommends corrective actions in the field when safety performance is found to be unacceptable
Assist with the development and implementation of site-specific safety plans, including emergency evacuation, fire, medical, and rescue protocols
Attends project pre-planning, progress, and other relevant project-related meetings to discuss safety-related matters
Maintain a strong presence in the field, serving as a resource and point of contact for safety-related inquiries and concerns
Assists in the investigation of project-related accidents. Confers with supervisor to determine root cause and discuss recommendations for changes in the work processes to eliminate recurrence
Collaborate with the on-site safety lead to ensure all safety procedures and documentation are up to date
Coordinates compliance with Company Policy, such as LOTO, hot work, confined space, etc
Performs other duties as assigned
Complies with all policies and standards
Qualification
Required
Must have OSHA 30 certification
Strong working knowledge of OSHA regulations and other relevant safety standards
Excellent communication skills, with the ability to provide clear, concise feedback to contractors and workers
Ability to manage multiple and changing priorities, strong time management, and organizational skills
Competent in use of standard software packages. (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.)
Strong organizational skills with a focus on fieldwork rather than office tasks
Preferred
Preferably OSHA 500 or CHST
A bachelor's degree in safety or a related field or equivalent experience is preferred
At least 2-3 years of experience in construction safety, preferably in industrial or power plant settings
First Aid/CPR certification is a plus
