Financial Analyst

Harris County is seeking a results-driven and detail-oriented Finance & Business Analyst to join their team. This role will support financial modeling, forecasting, reporting, and strategic planning efforts within the Financial Services Division, collaborating closely with Finance and Accounting teams to provide actionable insights for executive decision-making.

Responsibilities

Build and maintain robust financial models to support forecasting, scenario planning, and business cases for strategic initiatives
Collaborate with the Accounting and Budget teams to develop and maintain dashboards, monthly/quarterly reports, variance analysis, and KPIs
Analyze data to identify trends, risks, and opportunities; synthesize findings into concise, visual, and compelling presentations
Conduct ad hoc financial analyses to support leadership decisions and provide recommendations based on findings
Prepare executive-level presentations and reports to C-Suite and non-financial stakeholders
Leverage Excel, PowerPoint, and reporting tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau, or similar) to streamline reporting and improve data visualization

Required

Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, business administration, or a related field
A minimum of 5 years of experience in finance or accounting
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (e.g., pivot tables, lookups, modeling) and PowerPoint
Experience working closely with finance, accounting, or budgeting teams
Strong communication skills and ability to explain complex data and financial concepts clearly and effectively
Highly organized, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
Self-starter who has a sense of accountability, can work independently, and take ownership of the procurement process
Comfortable navigating complex purchasing decisions and has high organizational skills and strong follow-through

Preferred

Experience with data visualization tools or business intelligence platforms a plus (Power BI, Tableau, etc.)
