Sompo is offering a unique opportunity for a 2026 Underwriting Trainee in their Surety Team in Alpharetta, GA. The Trainee Program is an 18-month initiative designed to equip participants with essential business and technical skills for a successful career in insurance, providing on-the-job learning and mentoring alongside experienced underwriters.

Responsibilities

Work alongside experienced underwriters to gain in-depth knowledge of business units and underwriting philosophy through on-the-job learning and workplace mentoring

Assist Underwriters in exposure analysis and operational analysis of insureds

Compile a competitor analysis from a publicly available database

Work with Underwriting Assistants in developing renewal lists

Contact brokers for submissions

Accompany underwriters during internal meetings and occasional external marketing calls
