Caterpillar Inc. is a leading manufacturer of construction and mining equipment, and they are seeking a Design Technologist in the Global Gas Solutions Packaging team. This role will support the design of mechanical components for natural gas genset solutions, focusing on modular designs for manufacturing and customization.

Responsibilities

Facilitate Virtual Reality (VR) design reviews using existing enclosure models

Plan and manage engineering projects, including monthly financial reporting for North America and Rest of World solutions

Coordinate the release of engineering designs for standard enclosed genset solutions, ensuring compliance with company procedures and Caterpillar engineering systems

Participate in design reviews and VDRA processes to ensure manufacturability and quality for new product development (NPI) and custom orders

Source components and assemblies, and support validation testing

Document new engineering process flows and coordinate offshore engineering work

Manage pricelists, E-models, and release pricing arrangements for options

Order parts and issue purchase orders as needed

Provide technical support to technical sales teams and global production facilities, including third-party packagers

Identify and implement cost reduction opportunities while driving quality improvements

Communicate effectively with internal teams, suppliers, dealers/customers, and other departments

Ensure timely completion of projects within budget

Required

Experience with engine design, enclosure electrical layout, engine or genset controller development

Experience with electrical codes (UL, NEC)

Experience with ProE/Creo and AutoCad Electrical

Requires a bachelor's degree
