NEOGOV is seeking an experienced Paralegal to join the Workers’ Compensation Unit in the Civil Litigation and Employment Section of the Colorado Attorney General’s Office. The role involves assisting attorneys in managing workers’ compensation claims, including drafting legal documents, conducting research, and supporting trial preparation.

Responsibilities

Assists and supports the attorneys defending workers’ compensation claims by opening claims, gathering information, investigating claims, determining appropriate action on new claims

Drafting motions, pleadings and discovery under an attorney’s supervision

Filing pleadings with the Division of Workers’ Compensation, Office of Administrative Courts or other courts as necessary

Reviewing, ordering, organizing and summarizing records

Preliminary research

Researching and confirming factual and procedural information

Organizing documents and assistance with preparing and coordinating witnesses and exhibits for hearings, and other trial preparation as necessary

Lead the Unit to stay current on applicable procedural rules, case law

Collect and assemble data for use in reviewing the unit’s effectiveness and for determining areas for possible change or improvement and other assignments as needed
