Responsibilities
Lead and execute the development of combustion aero concepts from preliminary and detailed designs
Execute analyses to down-select new design solutions, to understand the impact of different design solutions on the fuel air mixing, emissions, performance, and dynamics
Contribute to develop as well as execute the combustion aero technology roadmap in support to the advanced combustion systems, including the adoption of alternative fuels (i.e., H2)
Communicate results, findings, and observations in a clear and concise manner to peers, IPT Leads and combustion management
Provide feedback to improve/align current Design philosophies to TFP/Part owner
Contribute to project design reviews and status reviews
Coordinate university research programs in the areas of CFD, experimental testing and/or thermoacoustic
Work with local and global teams for PD and CFD scopes
Qualification
Required
Master's degree in mechanical engineering or related field
Min. 3yrs. Of experience in the job; higher degree can be used in lieu of experience
Understanding different computational methods applied in combustion simulations, realizing and selecting the method and software depending on the project's timeline
Experience with engine performance (efficiency, emission, …) as well as details of combustion behavior (physical and numerical turbulent properties, un-mixedness, temperature fluctuations, flashback propensity)
Advanced combustion simulation methods, software and coding skills to be able to write customized post processing software suites
Product definition skills: Creation of NX models for analysis
