Responsibilities
Serve as counsel for at least one of Balchem’s three business segments and provide general legal support to commercial groups
Draft, review, and negotiate various contracts and agreements, including NDAs, commercial agreements, procurement, etc
Collaborate with Science, Marketing, and Regulatory groups to review and provide legal guidance with respect to marketing claims, consistent with FDA and FTC requirements
Manage litigation and dispute resolution as needed
Conduct legal research and provide legal training, as appropriate
Qualification
Required
Law degree (J.D.) from an accredited law school. Admitted to practice and member in good standing of any state bar
Minimum of five years of experience in a law firm or corporate legal department environment
Strong contracting skills
Able to diagnose and efficiently solve problems
Eagerness and adaptability to learn new areas of the law
Requires commute to our Montvale, NJ headquarters
Hybrid work model (generally expected to be in the office at least three days a week)
Ability to multi-task, be adaptable, and manage various matters effectively, including learning new areas of law
Strong business acumen and ability to provide sound, practical legal advice and solutions
Ability to take initiative and lead various projects
Highest level of integrity and strong work ethic
Ability to communicate effectively with a variety of contacts, including outside attorneys, senior management, and business associates
Operate typical office equipment such as computer
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs required
Some travel, both domestic and international, may be required
Preferred
Experience in advertising law is a bonus
