Responsibilities
Partner closely with founders to translate customer pain into concrete technical gates, metrics, and priorities
Set engineering standards and decision-making principles that allow the system to scale without becoming brittle or opaque
Own the data pipeline, including ingestion tools, downstream scoring, insight extraction, and clean + actionable outputs for clients
Architect, build, and perfect ingestion pipelines across fragmented, noisy public sources, with explicit definitions of coverage, relevance, and failure modes
Design and maintain observability frameworks (coverage %, relevance rate, false negatives, downstream impact) so the team can understand what the system is doing and why
Build reproducible, reliable workflows that transform raw documents into structured, standardized data that downstream systems can rely on without manual cleanup
Ensure the system generalizes beyond a single industry, documenting assumptions, gaps, and the work required to expand coverage responsibly
Qualification
Required
Significant experience building and operating production data pipelines
Deep familiarity with Python, cloud services (AWS or GCP) and observability tooling
Experience with data labeling and annotation using reliable, measurable, and debuggable systems
Comfort working with backend systems, APIs, and agentic workflows
A bias toward pragmatic, testable solutions that serve real users rather than theoretical elegance
Preferred
Experience with ML, NLP, RAG, and LLMs is valuable (but secondary). What matters more is your ability to deliver robust, dependable engineering outcomes under uncertainty
