Transition Development Specialist

Responsibilities

Develop community job leads for assigned individuals meeting their needs, desires, and capabilities
Initiate and maintain ongoing personal contacts with a variety of business and industry representatives
Contacts must be done in a variety of ways including labor market analysis, on-line, face to face site visits, employer interviews, cold call contacts, information interviews, group presentations and job developing with the participant
Make cold calls to potential employers explaining the benefits of hosting a student intern and employment support services provided by CIS
Conduct informational interviews with employers
Collects data from employers related to job openings including job requirements and skills
Matches applicants to internships/jobs, refers qualified applicants to employers and conducts necessary follow-up when applicants are placed in jobs and internships
Provide job coaching services and facilitate community exploration activities as referrals come in
Record and document all activity with participants in the form of case notes and business communication logs within set-works system
Attend networking opportunities with potential employers to obtain contact information
Attend and actively participate in team meetings, weekly or biweekly meetings with managers, attend initial job development meetings after participant has completed assessments
Create resumes, online helpers, register participant with email accounts and complete job applications and monitor participants professional email accounts
Accompany, advocate and market participants skills at interviews. Transport participants to interviews and meetings (facilitate alternative transportation as needed)
Community Explorations Communicating with parents and teachers to plan community outings. Utilizing the assessment database to coordinate community explorations
Being able to assist students with travel training on SEPTA to and from their internships, employment, and community explorations
Communicating with transition team to work towards students' independence, brainstorming for community explorations, etc
Assist with new projects and initiatives within the transition department as needed

Required

Bachelor's Degree preferred (four year college or technical school)
1 plus years of experience in Education, Social Services or Business preferred
Ability to effectively use Microsoft Office products, specifically Outlook, Excel and Word
Possess valid driver's license and automobile insurance
Must have access to an automobile and internet access at home
Able to pass all required background checks
Must be fully vaccinated or in the process of getting fully vaccinated
