Russ Lyon Sotheby’s International Realty is looking for a detail-oriented, high-energy Assistant Controller to manage the day-to-day operations of their accounting department. This role supports the Controller in maintaining accurate financial records, managing a team of accounting specialists, and ensuring timely and accurate commission payments for over 1,000 advisors.

Responsibilities

Supervise the day-to-day activities of the accounting team, including Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and the closing of real estate files

Oversee the calculation and distribution of complex agent commissions, ensuring accuracy across various split structures and franchise fee requirements

Lead the month-end and year-end closing processes, including bank reconciliations, journal entries, and the preparation of preliminary financial statements for the Controller’s review

Ensure all earnest money and trust account activities comply with Arizona Department of Real Estate (ADRE) regulations

Assist the Controller ensuring all documentation is organized and compliant with internal controls

Act as the primary point of contact for Managing Brokers regarding commission questions and financial reporting

Maintain expert-level knowledge of our accounting software (e.g., Brokerage Engine/Back Office and Quickbooks) and assist in training staff on system updates or new workflows
