Trade Compliance Associate
Nestlé’s Research & Development Center is a leader in innovation within the food, beverage, and pharmaceutical science sectors. The Trade Compliance Associate will work collaboratively with both internal and external partners to ensure compliance with federal regulations regarding imported and exported products.

Responsibilities
Collaborate daily with internal teams and external partners to monitor and ensure compliance and due diligence for imported products
Coordinate with shippers, customs brokers, and freight forwarders to guarantee all required documentation is accurate, compliant, and submitted promptly for import processes
Assign tariff codes to all imported products using the Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States (HTSUS)
Assign proper FDA Product Code for imported products
Conduct internal research and partner with suppliers to identify product ingredients, manufacturing processes, and packaging, ensuring accurate assignment of FDA Product Codes and Tariff Codes
Request and obtain necessary government certificates and permits from suppliers for imported products
Participate in quarterly compliance reviews with customs brokers, freight forwarders, and internal teams, including post-entry audits
Champion an end-to-end process improvement mindset, collaborating with cross-functional teams to identify and address gaps and risks
Provide customs brokers with instructions for customs clearance, including tariff codes, country of origin, FDA Product Codes, and FDA Registration numbers
Work closely with suppliers to ensure FDA Prior Notice is filed before shipping
Liaise with freight forwarders, customs brokers, and couriers to resolve any delays in document handover and/or customs clearance
Proactively stay current on industry best practices by attending seminars, conferences, and webinars related to Trade Compliance, ensuring up-to-date knowledge of evolving regulations and procedures
Qualification
Required
Proven experience in relationship building, facilitation, implementation skills and influence; and financial and operational oversight skills in both centralized and decentralized environments required
Good verbal and written communications required
Ability to thrive in a team environment required
Results-focus required
Ability to think critically to solve problems and work autonomously required
Preferred
Bachelor's degree preferred
Broker's license a plus
Preferred 2-4 years customs and international trade compliance experience, including experience working with Customs Brokers and Freight Forwarders as well as, working experience with assigning Harmonized Tariff Codes
