Paralegal - Transactional/Contracts

Responsibilities

Draft, refine and proofread routine and moderately complex contracts, amendments and legal documents using established templates
Review and synthesize information from related legal documents
Monitor contract lifecycles, including expirations and renewals
Assist in various stages of contract procurement, including requests for proposals and invitations for bids
Manage the dispatch, routing, tracking, filing and retention of various legal documents
Prepare closing binders, real estate documentation, and transactional files
Manage contract tracking systems and proactively flag deadlines and issues for review and completion
Conduct legal research to support project development, procurement policies, real estate and other matters
Support Missouri Sunshine Law activities by organizing responsive materials and ensuring deadlines are met
Monitor and track various contract compliance items (insurance renewals, required submittals, etc.) and maintain contract documentation in accordance with Port KC policies and procedures
Oversee organization of electronic and physical files across multiple project areas including real estate, governance, procurement and other areas of necessary support
Serve as point of contact for identifying and retrieving current and historical documents
Assist with drafting various materials for committee/board meetings
Act as point of contact for vendors, consultants and internal staff regarding contract processes and document requirements
Schedules and coordinate meetings related to legal matters, including cross-departmental project meetings
Support legal department and outside counsel by organizing materials, drafting summaries and tracking outstanding items

Required

Associate or bachelor's Degree, Paralegal Certificate or equivalent
5+ years of professional paralegal experience, preferably in real estate, development, banking, and/or bond finance law
Strong command of legal drafting and contract review
Strong ability to gather, analyze, interpret and synthesize information
Excellent attention to detail, organization and time management
Ability to work independently while appropriately escalating issues to counsel
Proficiency with Microsoft Suite and document management systems
