Supervisory Social Worker-Vocational Rehabilitation

Responsibilities
The incumbent serves as a Supervisory Rehabilitation Counselor responsible for the management and supervision of all rehabilitation services within VHA Voc Rehab Service
The incumbent also serves as the discipline lead for rehabilitation counseling and vocational rehabilitation providers within the VHA Voc Rehab Services
This position provides discipline-specific clinical supervision for vocational rehabilitation staff assigned throughout the VA System of Care
Plans work to be accomplished by subordinates
Sets and adjusts short-term priorities and prepares schedules for completion of work
Assigns work to subordinates based on priorities, selective consideration of the complexity of clinical cases, and the capabilities of employees
Provides oversight of intake assessments of Veterans referred to the VHA Voc Rehab Service program and for developing vocational assessments to identify an individual's strengths, barriers, and areas of vocational interests
Provides clinical and technical supervision necessary for accomplishing the work of VHA Voc Rehab Service, including adherence to the Individualized Placement and Support model and other evidence based and evidence informed models and therapeutic interventions

Education. Have a master's degree in social work from a school of social work fully accredited by the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE)
Licensure. Persons hired or reassigned to social worker positions in the GS-0185 series in VHA must be licensed or certified by a state to independently practice social work at the master's degree level

English Language Proficiency. Candidates must be proficient in spoken and written English to be appointed as authorized by 38 U.S.C. § 7403(f)
One year of experience equivalent to the GS-11 grade level. Experience must demonstrate possession of advanced practice skills in a specialty area or in administration demonstrating progressively more professional competency and judgment
Individuals assigned as Supervisory Social Workers must be licensed or certified at the advanced practice level, and must be able to provide supervision for licensure
Ability to independently organize work, set priorities, and meet multiple deadlines
Knowledge of supervisory duties which includes clinical supervision, consultation, negotiation with other departments and quality improvement
Ability to ensure provision of clinical social work services
Ability to provide staff training and development
Skill in interpersonal relationships in dealing with employees, team leaders, and managers
