Electronics Mechanic (Avionics)
The position is located in the Department of Homeland Security, United States Coast Guard, Industrial Production Branch, Industrial Operations Division, in Elizabeth City, NC. The Electronics Mechanic (Avionics) will perform aircraft electronics mechanic journeyman level duties, including troubleshooting, modifying, and repairing complex electronic systems and components.

Responsibilities
Troubleshoots, modifies, repairs, and performs final functional and operational tests of complex electronic systems, components, and accessories
Assisting engineering personnel in modifying existing systems or in developing repair procedures for new systems
Maintain the tools, equipment, and supplies of the trade involved
Performing maintenance and repair procedures on major electronic systems and troubleshooting complex electronic systems
Manufacturing a variety of aircraft specific or specialized "breakout boxes" and panels to facilitate testing and troubleshooting of electronic systems
Qualification
Required
Must be a U.S. Citizen
Must be registered or exempt from the Selective Service
A one-year probationary period may be required
All selected applicants must undergo and successfully pass a background investigation
This position requires a Public Trust clearance
Selectee subject to successful completion of pre-employment medical exam
This position requires the selectee to pass a pre-employment drug test
Occasional Temporary Additional Duty (TAD) is required
Subject to overtime or recall
Rotating shift work may be required
Ability to perform the work of Electronics Mechanic without more than normal supervision (SCREEN OUT ELEMENT)
Ability to Interpret Instructions, Specifications, etc. (Includes Blueprint Reading)
Ability to Use Hand and Power Tools - Electronics
Knowledge of Equipment Assembly, Installation, Repair, etc
Theory of Electronics
Troubleshooting (Aviation Electronic Equipment)
Use of Test Equipment: Electronics
Education completed in foreign colleges or universities may be used to meet Federal qualification requirements if you can show that your foreign education is comparable to education received in accredited educational institutions in the U.S
