Assistant- Programs Senior Center

NEOGOV is seeking an Assistant – Programs for the Senior Center to support and deliver high-quality programs for senior citizens. The role involves program coordination, customer service, and ensuring smooth daily operations at the Orange Beach Senior Center.

Responsibilities

Actively promote, coordinate, and support daily activities, programs, and special events for senior citizens
Deliver exceptional customer service by greeting patrons, responding to questions and concerns, answering phone calls, and providing accurate information regarding senior programs and facilities
Perform a variety of administrative and office support functions, including program registration, recordkeeping, filing, calendar management, and updating participant lists
Communicate effectively with program participants, staff, and volunteers through in-person interactions, phone calls, and written correspondence
Prepare activity rooms and event spaces by setting up and breaking down tables, chairs, and equipment for programs and special events
Support facility operations by monitoring program spaces, assisting participants as needed, and ensuring a welcoming and safe environment
Assist with off-site trips, excursions, and special programs as assigned
Maintain confidentiality of participant and departmental information at all times
Respond appropriately to emergency situations and administer First Aid or CPR when necessary
Perform additional duties as assigned to support departmental and City operations

Required

High school diploma or equivalent
Valid Alabama driver's license
Ability to maintain confidentiality of information
Willingness to work non-standard hours, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and overtime as required
Must be at least 18 years of age
Must maintain a current phone number and email address for work-related contact

Preferred

Experience working with senior citizens or in aging/adult programming
CPR/AED certification or the ability to obtain certification within six (6) months
One to two years of college preferred, with coursework in art, physical education, recreation, or a related field
