Finance/Budget Analyst II

This role focuses on the financial management of capital construction projects, ensuring accurate reporting and efficient processes in alignment with university financial policies.

Responsibilities

Manage Financial Transactions: Handle all financial activities related to capital projects—journal entries, budget amendments, requisitions, purchase orders, invoice payments, and financial close-out procedures
Monthly Reconciliation: Perform reconciliations between Workday and other systems (e.g., Trimble, AIM). Prepare clear supporting workpapers and review documentation, and work with departments to research and resolve discrepancies
Reporting and Analysis: Support financial reporting needs through ad hoc reports, reconciliations, forecasts, and construction-related financial analyses. May assist in tasks assigned to a higher-level analyst
Problem Solving and Decision-Making: Investigate and resolve complex accounting issues independently with moderate supervision. Provide insights and recommendations to supervisors
Process Improvement: Document financial business processes, identify inefficiencies, and propose solutions to streamline accounting operations
Team Collaboration: Work closely with internal departments, including General Accounting, Finance Operations, and PDC. May also support or mentor junior analysts as needed

Required

Bachelor's degree and 2+ years of relevant experience. Or an equivalent combination of education and experience pursuant to Fla. Stat. 112.219(6)

Preferred

3+ years of experience in accounting, budgeting, or financial analysis, preferably in a higher education, government, or capital construction environment
Demonstrated experience with preparing journal entries, procurement transactions, and other similar financial transactions
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including use of formulas, pivot tables, and data analysis tools
Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines in a fast-paced environment and identify/resolve discrepancies as they arise
Working knowledge of Workday Financials or similar ERP systems
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field
Excellent analytical skills with a strong attention to detail and accuracy
