Responsibilities
Facilitate/plan events/activities/programs for your residents that meet their needs, which educates residents and provides opportunities for community service, while following the guidelines and expectations as outlined by University Housing and your supervisor. Keep all bulletin boards in floor/area updated with current information/theme displays. (Successful, Engaged, Embrace, Develop)
Articulate and enforce university policy and procedures. (Successful, Develop)
Be available and accessible to the students by spending quality interaction time in the residence hall. (Embrace, Engaged)
Assist students with personal and academic concerns. (Successful, Engaged, Embrace, Develop)
Respond to and document all emergency situations quickly. (Successful, Develop)
Act as a referral agent for students. (Successful Engaged, Develop)

Eat meals in the dining center to interact with residents and serve as an advocate for positive dining experience. (Successful, Engaged)

Conduct floor/hall meetings throughout the academic year as deemed necessary and/or requested by your supervisor/University Housing. (Successful, Engaged, Develop)
Build relationships with faculty/staff of the university. (Staff on Learning Community will follow specific expectations for faculty interactions (Engaged, Embrace, Develop)
Assist students in finding ways to get involved (clubs, organizations, Hall Council, intramurals, etc.). (Engaged, Successful, Embrace)
Support the policies and programs of the University of Central Missouri (Embrace, Engaged, Develop)
At all times, practices open communication with University Housing which includes all students, professional and support staff members
At all times, acts as a positive representative for the university and University Housing in interactions and by role model behavior. Staff are expected to be positive role models. Illegal and irresponsible actions off campus may result in employment discipline from warning to termination pending severity and visibility
Know and understand policies and procedures as shared in staff google site, training, staff meetings and given by supervisor and University Housing staff
Document all situations appropriately and in a timely manner (within 24 hours)
Discuss all outside activities with the supervisor in terms of time management
Work directly with your supervisor to set program dates/deadline/plan for each semester. Reflection forms are completed within 48 hours of the program
Remain in your residence hall all but 18 nights per semester with no more than three consecutive nights absent. Time away requires supervisor’s approval
Work one regular shift per week at the front desk. This includes class break periods when the halls are open (October or other dates) Cannot work at front desk when on Duty
Attend and participate in all staff training; these dates include: (Training cannot be missed without prior approval and documentation)
Be available for the opening and closing of the residence halls as follows (these are subject to change as the academic year progresses):
Be available for staffing assignments on full staff/closed weekends:Aug. 13-16, Aug. 21-23, Dec. 4-6, Jan. 7-10, April 30- May 2, and as needed/assigned by University Housing
Participate in the duty schedule and complete tasks of duty personnel. Mobility throughout the residence hall is essential Duty coverage is required for university breaks of Labor Day, Fall Break (October), and times the University may close for other reasons. Understand and accept the frequency of hall duty varies from hall to hall
Complete administrative tasks such as job orders, weekly reports, incident reports, etc. and others as assigned by University Housing
Complete all University assigned training sessions by deadline given by the department/division
Complete the annual Student Staff Skyfactor survey by deadline given by the department
Share equally in the check-in/check-out duties and all other scheduling of hall staff
In emergency situations, at least half of the staff may be required
Additional expectations may be set by University Housing
Qualification
Required
Must have completed at least 24 credit hours prior to their placement and have lived in University Housing or group living for at least 2 semesters prior to beginning employment
Maintains a 2.50 grade point average, both cumulative and semester. (Cannot be below 2.5 semester GPA two out of three consecutive semesters and cannot be on academic probation with the University while working for Housing)
Be in good standing with the university and University Housing. A Community Advisor cannot be on disciplinary probation
