Responsibilities

Own the software design and development for major components of Oracle's Cloud Infrastructure Virtual Machine product building new solutions across the virtualization software stack
Drive operational excellence and best practices to improve the quality of the hypervisor and virtual machine platform
Deep dive into any part of the stack from low-level Linux systems to high-level distributed system interactions to root cause issues and ensure our systems are resilient and fault tolerant
Value simplicity and scale, work comfortably in a collaborative, agile environment, and be excited to learn

Required

10+ years of software development experience in systems or application-level engineering
3+ years of experience with OS kernel internals (e.g. memory management, device driver architecture)
3+ years of experience with PC architecture and virtualization (e.g. QEMU/KVM, Hyper-V, ESX)
Proficiency in at least two of the following programming languages: Go, Rust, Java, Python
Strong knowledge of data structures, algorithms, and operating systems
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, or a related field

Preferred

Master's degree in computer science, computer engineering, or a related field
Working familiarity of networking protocols (L2/L3/L4) and standard network architecture
Experience with Linux performance tools
Experience with Infrastructure-as-a-Service platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP)
Experience with GPU, SmartNIC, SR-IOV/VFIO, vDPA, TPM, SEV, live migration

Paid time off: Flexible Vacation is provided to all eligible employees assigned to a salaried (non-overtime eligible) position. Accrued Vacation is provided to all other employees eligible for vacation benefits. For employees working at least 35 hours per week, the vacation accrual rate is 13 days annually for the first three years of employment and 18 days annually for subsequent years of employment. Vacation accrual is prorated for employees working between 20 and 34 hours per week. Employees working fewer than 20 hours per week are not eligible for vacation.
