Responsibilities

Mentor and manage a team of software engineers, driving professional development through regular feedback, goal setting, and performance check-ins

Oversee hiring, staffing plans, and resource allocation to match project needs

Design, mature, and maintain software development processes

Lead Agile ceremonies, ensure high-quality code through peer reviews and CI/CD practices, and align with DevSecOps and security requirements

Collaborate with Systems and Network Engineering to deliver integrated solutions

Translate user needs into clear, actionable requirements and architectures

Contribute to proposals, estimates, and statements of work

Coordinate with program managers to keep development on schedule and aligned with scope and technical goals

Present technical concepts to customers and partners, participate in technical meetings, and ensure software delivers meaningful capability to the end user

Required

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent practical experience demonstrating advanced technical expertise and proven leadership capabilities

Proven Technical Leadership - 5+ years of experience leading software teams in a product or systems engineering environment, preferably with real-time or embedded systems

Mission-Driven Mindset - Passion for supporting national security missions and advancing capabilities through user-focused software design

Systems Thinking - Ability to translate complex operational requirements into scalable, maintainable software architectures

Agile Execution - Strong experience managing Agile development cycles, backlogs, and sprint planning within multi-disciplinary teams

People Development - Demonstrated success managing engineers and fostering career growth while driving accountability and performance

Cross-Functional Communication - Comfortable collaborating across engineering, product, and customer-facing teams to align vision and execution

Security Conscious - Familiarity with secure software development practices and integration with system accreditation workflows (e.g., RMF, STIGs)
