Lead Fiber Splicer

KCI, LLC is seeking an experienced Lead Fiber Technician / Splicer to oversee and perform advanced fiber optic installation, splicing, testing, and troubleshooting on high-count fiber networks. The ideal candidate will manage and execute fiber optic projects with a focus on quality and safety, while providing field leadership and coordinating with project managers and engineers.

Responsibilities

Perform fiber optic splicing and termination on loose tube and ribbon cable (including high-count builds such as 432- and 864-count fibers)
Execute mid-span access and work in handholes and manholes safely and efficiently
Build, test, and maintain fiber optic circuits in both backbone and distribution networks
Conduct and document testing using OTDR, OILM, and EXFO equipment, ensuring all splices and circuits meet required performance standards
Scope fibers and perform end-to-end troubleshooting to isolate and resolve issues
Maintain accurate splicing documentation, labeling, and as-built records
Provide field leadership: coordinate daily tasks, ensure adherence to safety standards, and train/mentor junior fiber technicians
Interface with project managers, engineers, and customers to ensure work is completed on schedule and within quality standards

Required

Minimum 5+ years of fiber optic splicing experience, with leadership experience strongly preferred
Proficient in loose tube and ribbon fiber splicing, including high-count fiber builds (432, 864, etc.)
Strong experience with mid-span access and working in handholes/manholes
Skilled in using OTDR, OILM, EXFO, and fiber scopes for testing, troubleshooting, and certification
Knowledge of fiber optic construction practices, industry standards, and safety procedures
Ability to read and interpret splice diagrams, schematics, and construction prints
Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills
Valid driver's license and ability to travel to job sites as required
Proficient in fiber optic splicing techniques
Experience with testing equipment such as OTDR and EXFO
Strong leadership and communication skills

Preferred

FOA, ETA, or manufacturer fiber certifications (preferred, not required)
OSHA 10/30, confined space, or other relevant safety training
