Responsibilities

Responsible for oversight of departmental fiscal accounting including state side grant funding, 49R Foundation, Research Foundation funding, and other departmental funding (IRA & Course Fees, Student Excellent Fees). Create and maintain spreadsheets for all funds administered by the Department of Biological Sciences
Serve as departmental liaison for faculty, staff, and administrative offices on fiscal procedures, ensuring compliance with university policies
Student Assistant Hiring and monitoring - Post Federal Work Study Student Assistant Positions on CareerLINK, review applications, conduct interviews and participate in hiring process
Supervise and assign duties to FWS Students when hired. Oversee student on-boarding process and ensure are new hires are entered into system

Required

Equivalent to a bachelor's degree in a related field and two years of related experience required
Experience with PeopleSoft, Data Warehouse, and MS Office
Strong interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with diverse groups
Solid accounting and analytical abilities to manage department budgets
Ability to apply independent judgment, discretion, and initiative in performing complex fiscal tasks
Ability to interpret and apply detailed policies and procedures
Ability to resolve fiscal and travel-related issues
Ability to work efficiently under continuous interruptions
Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to handle complex financial processes
Ability to communicate with an ethnically and culturally diverse campus community
Ability to follow all university policies, procedures, and guidelines including but not limited to safety, civility, information security, and non-discrimination policies and procedures
Ability to contribute to a positive university experience for each and every student
