Responsibilities

Develop, maintain, and evolve ontologies, taxonomies, vocabularies, and controlled metadata structures
Translate complex business concepts into formal knowledge models that support interoperability and semantic clarity
Define entity types, relationships, attributes, and rules aligned with organizational logic and domain requirements
Collaborate with Data Engineers, BI Engineers, and Business Analysts to integrate ontologies into data pipelines, knowledge graphs, and AI systems
Ensure semantic consistency across platforms, APIs, and data sources
Establish and maintain metadata standards, naming conventions, and classification guidelines
Conduct audits to ensure data quality and adherence to ontology governance
Document ontology structures, decision rationales, and change management processes
Partner with subject-matter experts to capture domain knowledge and validate conceptual models
Provide training and guidance on ontology use, metadata best practices, and semantic technologies

Required

Proven experience designing ontologies, taxonomies, or knowledge models in a professional setting
Familiarity with semantic technologies (RDF, OWL, SPARQL, SHACL) and knowledge graph platforms
Strong analytical and conceptual modeling skills
Ability to translate abstract concepts into structured, scalable frameworks
Excellent communication skills for technical and non-technical audiences

Preferred

Background in information science, linguistics, computer science, library science, or related field
Experience with enterprise metadata management and/or AI/ML applications
Knowledge of industry standards (e.g., SKOS, schema.org)
Experience with domain-specific ontologies (e.g., e-commerce, healthcare, finance)
