Licensing Assistant
NEOGOV is seeking a highly motivated and skilled individual to join the Iowa Racing and Gaming Commission as a Licensing Assistant. The role involves processing applications for licensure, reviewing supporting documents, and providing excellent customer service to applicants in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities
Process applications for licensure using a licensing software system
Understand and implement administrative rules governing the licensure process
Review and evaluate supporting documents received for pending license applications
Handle confidential documents and follow procedures established in the Code and administrative rules. Make an independent determination of each applicant’s eligibility for licensure
Advise applicants on procedure and requirements and give appropriate and prompt responses to questions by telephone and in person
Fingerprint applicant making sure the fingerprint card has been properly and legibly completed
Process licensure fees, issue licenses and certificates, and enter licensing information in the online system on a daily basis
Answer multiple phone and walk-in inquiries from individuals about requirements for initial licensure
Enter necessary data into the database, take photo, and print badge
Balance all monies received from license fees and rulings with the daily and weekly deposits. Make out deposit form and deposit funds weekly at the bank. Prepare and distribute direct billing statement for licensee
Maintain a log on all fines assuring they are paid within the time limit, if not refer to the Gaming Representatives. Enter the ruling information into the database and distribute copies

Qualification
Required
Two years of full-time work experience in general office, clerical, data entry/processing, or related work
A total of two years of education and/or full-time experience (as described in number one), where thirty semester hours of accredited college or university coursework in any field equals one year of full-time experience
Current, continuous experience in the state executive branch that includes six months of full-time work as an Administrative Support Assistant 2 or eighteen months of full-time work as an Administrative Support Assistant 1
A self-motivated, quick learner who is able to navigate licensure requirements proficiently
Great attention to detail and a high level of organizational skill
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Comfort with responding to a high volume of inquiries and prioritizing clerical work
Experience working with diverse populations in a team environment
Commitment to providing a high-quality service
