Traffic Data Collection & Analysis Supervisor
The Montana Department of Transportation is hiring a Traffic Data Collection and Analysis Supervisor. In this role, you will lead a team responsible for collecting and analyzing traffic data to support the department's decision-making processes, while also overseeing daily operations and coordinating with internal and external partners.

Responsibilities
Lead the team that collects and turns traffic counts into reliable information used across the department
Set daily priorities, assign work, coach staff, and keep the program running smoothly and consistently
Oversee traffic monitoring sites, review and validate data, and ensure results are accurate, well documented, and ready for reporting and decision making
Coordinate with internal partners and vendors to plan and support equipment needs, installations, replacements, and purchasing
Help improve tools and workflows as needs change
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Mathematics, Planning, Business or a related field
4 years of related program/project management or other related experience
1 year of supervisory experience
Understanding of how traffic data is collected, checked, and used
Familiarity with basic statistics used to spot trends and make estimates
Understanding of how traffic data supports planning, design, operations, and reporting
Comfort working with data systems and workflows and keeping data organized and consistent
Awareness of federal and state reporting expectations for transportation data
Understanding of program planning, basic budgeting, and working with contracts
Leading and developing employees through clear expectations, coaching, and accountability
Planning, prioritizing, and balancing work across multiple deadlines and work types
Building simple, repeatable quality checks and maintaining clear documentation
Coordinating with vendors and consultants and managing deliverables and performance
Analyzing data and communicating results clearly in writing and in conversations
Evaluating tools and workflows and improving them for consistency and efficiency
Identifying equipment needs and supporting specifications and purchasing decisions
Leading a team and delivering steady results across a high-volume workload
Making good decisions under pressure and adjusting plans when conditions change
Protecting data quality from collection through final reporting
Explaining technical work and results in plain language
Working effectively with internal partners while holding standards
Spotting risks early, putting controls in place, and preventing repeat issues
