Lead Composite Blade Technician

They are seeking a Lead Composite Blade Technician who will specialize in the inspection and repair of composite Wind Turbine Generator components, ensuring health, safety, and environmental compliance while traveling extensively for the role.

Responsibilities

Evaluate, inspect, diagnose and document internal and external composite damage, then photograph and assemble documentation as required
Perform coating and structural repairs of internal and external composite structures, such as wind turbine blades and nacelles
Modify and repair fiberglass, carbon fiber, resin and other composite materials as needed
Work with site leadership to execute all contractual obligations and activities set forth with the customers daily, which can include composite repairs with respect to wind turbines
Perform Lock Out Tag Out (LOTO) as required to maintain a safe working environment
Interpret engineering drawings and lamination schedules
Coordinate with the engineering support team when needed for non-standard repairs

Required

GWO Certification, either existing or available through Pearce Training Program
Minimum of 3 years of experience working with composite materials in any industry
Proven technical and team leadership skills
Supervised composite blade damage assessment
Lightening damage tip, carbon blade tip and multi-shell tip replacement
Experienced with internal and external adhesive bonding
Competent in repairing leading edge (LE) and trailing edge (TE) cracks
Understanding of mix ratios for all composite repair chemicals
Read and understand electrical schematic drawings
Ability and willingness to climb a wind turbine vertically at least 300 feet
Maintain a weight between 120 and 280 pounds, including clothing and boots, for OSHA safety compliance
Lift and move equipment as needed (more than 50 pounds)
Work in an indoor or outdoor environment in adverse weather conditions with blowing pollen, dust, and grasses
