Responsibilities

Conduct routine safety inspections in the High Voltage Industry to include construction sites, fixed locations, hydro plants, turbine generation, wind farms and any other sites that fall under the High Voltage Industry that relate to the service, maintenance, and upgrades at High Voltage infrastructure sites throughout the State of Washington
Perform complex accident investigations where fatalities, hospitalizations, or other serious injuries have occurred related to high voltage
Determine if High Voltage construction, repair, and maintenance crews and workers are in compliance with 296-45 WAC
Organize, write, and edit comprehensive technical inspection and investigation reports which are the basis for safety and health compliance actions along with proposed citations and monetary penalties as appropriate
Present verbal and written reports of the investigation covering the investigation findings, minimum standards that must be satisfied, suggestions for abatement, and required to abate hazards

Required

5 years of experience as a Journeyman Lineman
Completion of the Washington State High Voltage Apprenticeship Program or other state equivalent
Extensive knowledge of WAC 296-45 and the National Electrical Safety Code (NESC)
Possess a valid and unrestricted driver license: While driving a state vehicle or personally owned vehicle (POV) for state business an employee must have a valid unrestricted driver license and may not have convictions for driving under the influence or driving offense that endangered or harmed others within the past 7 years. Individuals driving POVs for state business must receive permission in advance to use their POV and possess and show proof of personal liability insurance
