Amazon Lab126 is looking for a Principal Software Engineer in Graphics to lead our cross OS technical direction for all elements of our graphics rendering stacks. This role involves providing technical leadership for designing and implementing rendering solutions across various Amazon products, including Echo and Fire TV devices.

Responsibilities

Engineers in this role must show exemplary judgment in making technical trade-offs between short versus long term design, performance and business goals
They must also demonstrate resilience and navigate difficult situations with composure and tact
Conflicts should be addressed by listening, finding the best way forward and persuading one’s colleagues
Successful engineers in this role will regularly analyze their own performance with a critical eye
A broad understanding of the embedded devices landscape, and industry interconnections is required
This position will also requires the right candidate to lead training, advice, and mentorship to other engineers throughout Lab126

Qualification

Required

12+ years of industry experience with a focus on graphics and rendering technologies
Previous experience with leading graphics technology initiatives in the consumer device space, particularly with embedded systems or operating systems
10+ years of experience in defining and implementing rendering system requirements, architecture and technical roadmaps
5+ years of demonstrated experience in leading technical teams in the graphics space

Preferred

Prior experience in a leadership role within a large technology company, preferably in a device or OS-focused team
Demonstrable experience with embedded software, operating systems, and managing cross-functional graphics intensive projects
Strong familiarity with industry standard graphics protocols, open source projects and standards
Excellent communication and mentorship skills, capable of leading and influencing teams across technical and non-technical domains
