Participate or lead team in system engineering responsibilities. Establish requirements and specifications using knowledge of component interactions through entire system and downstream impacts of design, material selection, and processing on system function
Basic use of engineering tools e.g. CAD, tolerance stacks, GD&T
Use empirical, numerical and experimental analysis to analyze designs and processes
Involved in test method and model development
Work with internal departments (assay, consumable, instrument teams) and external vendors to obtain prototype parts and to understand their capabilities and limitations
Demonstrate awareness of product function and clinical environment. Supports Production, Complaints, Performance investigations, design reviews and physician visits as needed
Gain a detailed understanding of the quality and regulatory requirements of Abbott, FDA and ISO regulations, manage project within these requirements
Gain a detailed understanding of overall schedule, manage time and task within schedule
Runs complex problem solving efforts with some oversight, e.g. identifies issues resulting in minor downstream impacts; methodically completes test flow to drive conclusions/next steps
Leads complex investigations with minimal oversight e.g. correcting issues with component interactions during testing which may not function as intended, may be design or process related
Writes protocols and reports with minimal oversight. e.g. More complex spec set with multiple outputs or engineering study with multiple outputs
Develops test strategies with multiple parallel arms. Plans test flow with oversight. Leads alignment through cross functional R&D teams on strategy
Acts with minimum oversight on complex problems or activities. Understands the why behind projects and tasks. Communicates thorough rationale for decision made
Makes decisions having considered options and using analytical tools e.g. CpK, tolerance stacks, manufacturability, clinical relevance, cross-functional factors, prior projects, risk benefit, cost and compliance analysis prior to implementing changes
Able to frame up multiple scenarios to minimize impact of making a wrong decision. Using past experiences towards making significant contribution successfully. e.g. Leads and communicates lessons learned, implements corrective actions or mitigates repeat issues
Creates effective team environment. Influences and demonstrates good leadership. Often called to lead efforts or projects with minimal oversight. e.g. delegates, prioritizes, offers feedback, updates to Management
