Senior Software Engineer
Complete Genomics is focused on developing mission-critical software for DNA sequencing and sample preparation platforms. The Senior Software Engineer will be responsible for developing control and acquisition software, collaborating with scientists and engineers, and ensuring high-performance software for various applications.
Responsibilities
Architect and develop real-time control software: Design and implement complex software systems for high-performance, real-time instrumentation
Collaborate across disciplines: Work closely with scientists and engineers to create software supporting instrument operation, manufacturing, servicing, and quality control
Own customer-facing and internal tools: Contribute to control software used by customers, manufacturing teams, QC operations, and internal integration testing
Troubleshoot and resolve issues: Support internal and external customers by diagnosing and fixing software issues identified during instrument operation
Apply sound software architecture principles: Use design patterns and best practices to build scalable, maintainable systems
Build quality into the codebase: Design testable software with automated test coverage and participate in code reviews and CI workflows
Provide technical leadership: Guide and support other engineers through complex technical and design decisions
Qualification
Required
3-5 years experience developing commercial software using C#/.NET in Windows environments
Solid experience with C++ or Java, including multithreaded or real-time programming
Hands-on experience with complex control or data acquisition systems
Working knowledge of software architecture, design patterns, and object-oriented programming
Experience with automated testing, code reviews, and continuous integration
Proficiency with Git and modern development workflows
Experience with task management and documentation systems, e.g. JIRA and Confluence
Strong teamwork and communication skills
Experience using Python in scientific or production environments
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
Preferred
Background in bioinformatics, scientific computing, or numerical processing
Familiarity with signal processing, image processing, or statistical methods
Exposure to GPU programming or performance optimization
