Tax Strategy Manager
Bement & Company is a member firm of The Franklin Alliance, specializing in high-impact financial, tax, and accounting services. The Tax Strategy Manager will play a critical role in tax compliance, strategy, and client advisory, preparing and reviewing tax returns while developing into a senior advisory position.
Responsibilities
Prepare and review federal and state tax returns for individuals and closely held businesses, including:
S-Corporations
Partnerships
Complex individual (Form 1040) returns
Serve as a trusted reviewer during tax season, signing off on returns and exercising professional judgment
Collaborate with tax staff and seniors to ensure accuracy, efficiency, and consistent quality
Identify tax planning opportunities during return preparation and flag them for follow-up strategy discussions
Participate in tax strategy and advisory engagements, including proactive planning, entity structuring, and multi-year tax optimization
Attend and progressively lead strategy and advisory calls with clients
Translate complex tax concepts into clear, actionable guidance for clients
Support the development and delivery of Bement’s tax strategy offerings (e.g., Personal CFO / Tax Strategy services)
Act as a client-facing advisor who builds trust and long-term relationships
Support consultative sales conversations by helping prospects understand value, opportunities, and next steps
Identify opportunities to expand client relationships across tax, accounting, and advisory services
Contribute to client retention by delivering high-quality advice and a strong client experience
Work closely with Partners, Accounting Managers, and Tax Leadership to refine service offerings and workflows
Provide feedback to improve processes, pricing, and service delivery as the firm evolves
Help train and mentor junior tax team members over time
Embrace an entrepreneurial mindset, this role will help shape how the strategy function grows
Tax Season (Feb–Apr, Sept-Oct): Majority of time focused on tax preparation and review, with select strategy engagements
Remainder of Year: Increasing emphasis on tax planning, advisory, strategy calls, and client development
Qualification
Required
Active CPA license
3–5 years of tax preparation and review experience
Strong experience with S-Corps, partnerships, and individual returns
Comfort signing off on returns and exercising professional judgment
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Client-facing mindset; enjoys working directly with people
Preferred
CFP designation (or interest in pursuing)
Prior exposure to tax planning, advisory, or consulting work
Sales or consultative selling experience
Experience working with entrepreneurial or high-net-worth clients
