Responsibilities

Leads the design and/or project/process management of new and current products, programs, components, tools, and acceptance equipment
Drives development of test procedures and performs complex engineering evaluation tests, product and process capability studies, quality audits, product or project data reviews, and other engineering evaluation work
Prepares evaluation reports, analyzes discrepancies, and makes recommendations for product, test equipment, procedures and manufacturing or operating processes that improve productivity and quality and reduce flowtime
Formulates and justifies technical positions to all levels of management
Oversees the acquisition of tooling, gauging and other equipment necessary to manufacture/inspect parts to assure product quality
Partners with internal and external stakeholders to independently resolve complex design, development, production, and acceptance issues
Guides the evaluation and provides input regarding technological advances that improve productivity and quality, reduce flowtime, and enhance operational surety
Recognized as a subject matter expert within the business and provides technical consultation to management and others
Provides mentorship, advice, and insight to other employees to ensure project and product compliance
Responsible for work that may involve longer range and/or complex business objectives in field of expertise
Exerts some influence on the overall objectives and long-range goals of the business unit

Required

Bachelor of Science degree from an ABET accredited Engineering program or bachelors of science degree in Physics from an accredited program
Six or more years of relevant experience in engineering, analytical, or related technical activities
Ability to travel up to 20% of the time
Ability to work hybrid or on-site as directed by management and is determined by the needs of the business
United States Citizenship
Regular and reliable attendance is an essential function of this job
Ability to obtain and maintain, if required for position, a U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) security clearance (some positions require additional DOE designations)

Preferred

Experience working with or in Product Realization Teams (PRTs)
Systems Engineering Experience – knowledge of requirements compliance and verification
Master of Science or Ph.D. in Chemistry or Physics preferred
Demonstrated knowledge of manufacturing or quality processes and techniques
Demonstrated application of advanced design, development, evaluation, and quality control techniques to complex engineering concepts and projects
