Manufacturing/Design Engineer - 1st Shift

Responsibilities

Able to work collaboratively across departments to support product development and overcoming day-to-day challenges
Develop, analyze, and improve manufacturing methods
Effectively and professionally communicate with employees across all levels and departments within APP
Assists with resolution of customer, technical and quality issues. Participates and leads Root Cause and Corrective Actions (RCCA) when necessary
Support manufacturing engineering in activities of product development for new and/or existing jobs, with primary focus on New Product Introduction (NPI)
Create and develop process routings, including the supporting documentation required to support NPI utilizing departmental best practices
Works with Production Planning team to determine and maintain manufacturing costs and time standards
Offer support to the Engineering Change Request process and manufacturing process validations
Review and understand customer specifications, ensure customer requirements are properly defined and effectively communicated to stakeholders, including external vendors
Work safe and maintain an organized, lean work environment
Strong commitment to good attendance and being on time as it is critical to meet production needs
Must be able to lead continuous improvement efforts
Must wear proper Personal Protection Equipment in specified work area at all times
Must be able to operate in a drug-free workplace
Perform any other duties not mentioned above when instructed to do so by the department manager

In compliance with ITAR regulations, must be a US Citizen or US Person
Perform any other duties not mentioned above when instructed to do so by the department manager
Must be able to conceptualize between 2D prints and 3D models
Bachelor's degree in engineering-Mechanical / Manufacturing / Material Science / Industrial Engineering, or equivalent experience
0-3 years' experience in engineering and/or manufacturing environment
Excellent computer skills in a Microsoft Office environment; experience with an ERP system (e.g. IFS)
Experience with 3D modeling software, i.e. CATIA, SolidWorks, Inventor, and/or Autodesk
Familiarity with the aerospace industry and various commercial product lines
Good hands-on skills with assemblies
Fundamental knowledge of GD&T
Strong project management, organizational, analytical and presentation skills
Fundamental knowledge of statistical concepts and methods to ensure appropriate application and analysis of data
Cost estimating: Good math background. Must be able to understand equipment process and capabilities. 'Define how and why'
Machine Shop knowledge: Solid understanding of CNC machining and be able to visualize the result
Welding knowledge required
Die design, Mold design or tool shop experience is needed
