Red Spot Paint & Varnish is a growing company that supplies high performance coatings for the plastics and automotive markets. They are seeking a Coatings Chemist Intern to join their Research & Development team, where the intern will assist in the development and improvement of thermal cure coatings for various applications.

Learn and assist in the development, modification and/or improvement of thermal cure coatings for automotive and non-automotive applications

Work with primers, basecoats, top coats, and clear coats

Required

Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or related science discipline currently in progress with at least two chemistry laboratory courses completed or undergraduate laboratory research experience

Strong analytical skills

Ability to document, report, and interpret findings as well as design follow-up experiments for results

Ability to concentrate on detail and work independently

Ability to learn and apply technical concepts quickly

Knowledge/understanding of general chemical principles/properties

Ability to apply basic statistical techniques

Excellent computer skills

Excellent interpersonal skills

Effective oral/written communication skills

Ability to organize and prioritize a variety of projects and multiple tasks in an effective and timely manner

Employee should have availability to work some hours during school semester if the position carries over into the Fall semester
