Responsibilities
Diagnose and repair gasoline and diesel powered internal combustion engines
Diagnose operational, mechanical, hydraulic, & electrical malfunctions of equipment
Inspect a wide variety of automotive and/or heavy construction equipment in accordance with safety/scheduled preventative maintenance checklists
Perform preventive maintenance on equipment, engines, electrical systems, hydraulic systems, tractors, welding machines, paint stripers, arrow boards, paint pumps and guns, rollers, trenchers, and weed sprayers
Operate vehicles and/or equipment requiring a commercial driver’s license
Road test equipment after repair and maintenance has been completed and maintain daily records
Fabricate and modification of equipment, drive shop truck to various job sites to perform repairs
Other duties as assigned as related to the position
Qualification
Required
Skilled and experienced mechanic with a passion for problem solving and diagnosing
Journey level mechanical experience
Excellent diagnostic skills in maintaining the Light/Heavy Equipment Fleet
Ability to diagnose and repair gasoline and diesel powered internal combustion engines
Ability to diagnose operational, mechanical, hydraulic, & electrical malfunctions of equipment
Ability to inspect a wide variety of automotive and/or heavy construction equipment in accordance with safety/scheduled preventative maintenance checklists
Ability to perform preventive maintenance on equipment, engines, electrical systems, hydraulic systems, tractors, welding machines, paint stripers, arrow boards, paint pumps and guns, rollers, trenchers, and weed sprayers
Ability to operate vehicles and/or equipment requiring a commercial driver's license
Ability to road test equipment after repair and maintenance has been completed and maintain daily records
Ability to fabricate and modify equipment
Ability to drive shop truck to various job sites to perform repairs
Knowledge of power/drive train system inspection, diagnosis and repair procedures
Knowledge of electrical systems inspection, diagnosis, and repair procedures
Knowledge of electronic control systems inspection, diagnosis, and repair procedures
Knowledge of computerized diagnostic analyzer use procedures and practices
Knowledge of hydraulic systems inspection, diagnosis, and repair procedures
Knowledge of operating principles of gasoline and diesel powered internal combustion engines
Knowledge of fleet maintenance shop safety principles and practices
Knowledge of record keeping principles and practices
Knowledge of cutting, welding and fabrication
Skill in repairing and maintaining mechanical, electrical, electronic and automotive/heavy construction equipment
Skill in operating computerized diagnostic analyzer equipment
Skill in estimating time cost of repair maintenance work for a wide variety of automotive/heavy construction equipment
Skill in scheduling/coordinating automotive/heavy construction equipment service and repair to maximize utilization
Ability to follow oral and written instructions
Ability to interpret repair manuals, service bulletins and recall bulletins
Ability to utilize a PC and PC programs such as Google Workspace and Microsoft office
Ability to manage time effectively
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and push/pull 90 lbs; pass a physical exam
Possession of a valid Class B CDL or the ability to obtain a Class B CDL within six months of employment
EPA Section 609 Certification or the ability to obtain the certification within six months of employment
Preferred
Three years of journey level experience diagnosing and repairing a variety of Light/Medium/Heavy Duty Trucks and/or Construction Equipment
Automotive Service of Excellence (ASE) Master Certification in Medium-Heavy Duty Truck preferred but not required
