Responsibilities
Own design, development, and integration of 1MW alternator
Create 3D models and 2D fabrication drawings in CAD and NX
Own communications with vendors to source all components to build the generator
Perform bench testing, dynamic testing, and system testing for all subsystem components and models
Perform hands-on assembly, rapid prototyping, and integration of high voltage electric motors and generators
Qualification
Required
B.S. in mechanical engineering specializing in electric motors
5+ years of design experience designing high-voltage and high-power electric motors and/or generators
Fundamental knowledge of permanent magnet electric motors
Experience in design, manufacturing, and assembly of electric motors
Must be willing to work extended hours and weekends as necessary to accomplish our mission
Must work 100% onsite at El Segundo HQ
Preferred
8+ years of generator design
M.S in Mechanical Engineering specializing in electric motors
Knowledge of motor control systems including SVM
Great team player with one team mentality working with turbomachinery, power electronics, thermal, packaging and software teams
