Responsibilities
Own large portions of autonomous systems from concept through fielding
Deliver immediate, real-world capability to national security operators
Tackle hard problems across disciplines and grow faster than in a traditional engineering organization
Collaborate with a small, highly focused team of top engineers and operators in the industry
Create and maintain high-fidelity environments where system behavior is modeled, analyzed, and refined
Evaluate how real-world vehicle performance aligns with or deviates from classical rotorcraft and rocket theory
Capture nonlinear behaviors and implement them directly into core physics engines
Fully own the design, evolution, and maintenance of a high-fidelity simulation platform that serves as the primary engineering tool for rapid iteration and digital validation
Partner with flight-test teams to define maneuvers for high-rate data collection and develop system identification pipelines to derive accurate dynamic models from flight data
Architect and maintain a core dynamics simulation library with platform-agnostic, nonlinear six-degree-of-freedom models used across lightweight simulations and high-fidelity SITL/HITL environments
Research and implement advanced modeling approaches, including neural-network-based methods, to capture complex aerodynamic effects and highly nonlinear transition regimes
Qualification
Required
Master's or PhD in Aerospace Engineering, Robotics, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field
Experience owning models from concept through flight validation in high-intensity environments
Hands-on experience modeling and simulating high-speed or aerodynamically unstable systems; control systems experience is a plus
Willingness and ability to travel as required to support flight testing
Deep expertise in rigid-body dynamics, reference-frame transformations, and flight dynamics of aerodynamically unstable aerial vehicles
Experience with Gazebo and custom simulation platforms, including digital-twin replication and high-fidelity physics modeling
Experience with high-speed multirotor and rocket systems, including nonlinear dynamics and transition maneuvers
Strong proficiency in C++ and Python, including numerical methods (Eigen, NumPy, SciPy) and modern software engineering practices (CI/CD, unit testing)
Proven experience deriving and fitting physics-based models from experimental data, including frequency-domain analysis
