Lead, Financial Planning, Analysis and Investments
Stowers Institute for Medical Research is seeking a Lead for Financial Planning, Analysis, and Investments to serve as a strategic partner to the CFO. This role involves managing budgeting, forecasting, financial modeling, and investment oversight to ensure the Institute's financial sustainability and asset growth.

Responsibilities
Partner with the CFO and Finance & Accounting leadership team to assess the financial implications of strategic and operational decisions across the Institute
Support the development and execution of the Institute’s annual financial plan and run rate, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and long-term sustainability
Working collaboratively on the finance and accounting team, design and implement financial models, dashboards and analytical tools to evaluate performance and measure the impact of business and financial decisions
Lead analysis of historical and current financial performance, develop forecasts and budgets with variance analysis and actionable insights for department leaders
Manage the FP&A team responsible for management reporting, annual budgeting, and quarterly forecasting processes, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and engagement with department stakeholders
Oversee cash flow forecasting and long-term commitment management to ensure liquidity needs are met and financial stability is maintained
Partner with the Controller to verify accuracy, reconciliation, and integrity of financial data used for management reporting
Develop advanced quantitative and analytical models to support scenario analysis, capital planning, and strategic initiatives
Oversee the investment portfolio and outsourced investment manager to ensure alignment with the Institute’s investment approach, in support of long-term growth, diversification, and risk-adjusted returns
Conduct ongoing due diligence on investment managers and holdings, including validation of asset ownership, valuation, and identification of material organizational or market changes affecting the portfolio
Serve as Institute’s subject matter expert and primary point of contact for all investment matters
Manage investment data, reporting, and analytics – developing monthly performance reports, portfolio monitoring dashboards, and insights to inform strategic decision-making
Partner with the accounting team to ensure accurate fair value reporting of investments and maintain supporting documentation
Collaborate with the CFO to prepare and present investment performance, asset allocation, returns, and yield analyses for Board reporting
Qualification
Required
A minimum of 7-10 years of finance, budgeting, capital, and decision support experience within an equally complex organization as the Stowers Institute for Medical Research (e.g., multiple legal entities and structures)
Bachelor's degree in finance, Accounting or related field is required
Experience in previous, applicable financial planning and analysis or investment oversight, or related roles
Advanced knowledge of business processes in strategic planning, financial modeling, budgeting, financial reporting, cost benefit analysis, and demonstrated ability conducting complex problem solving is anticipated
Advanced proficiency in financial modeling, forecasting, and analytics (Excel, Power BI, or equivalent tools). Technology adeptness is important
Demonstrated leadership ability and experience collaborating with executive leadership
Excellent communication skills with the ability to distill complex financial information into clear insights for diverse audiences
Possesses a tenacious work ethic, reliability, and sense of urgency as appropriate; with dedication to meeting deadlines, often with time to spare
